lam lifting on my tri-lam longbow
« on: October 11, 2010, 08:57:00 PM »
went hunting tonight and while setting and looking around i gave my bow a good looking at before starting out aand noticed that the bambo backing seems to be lifting off of the ipe core right at the bottom of the handle but you can only see this when the bow is strung i was wondering if i could squeeze some superglue in there and then unstring the bow to let it close the gap and seal and adheare .

would this work  as it is maybe 1.5- 2 inches area on both sides of the bambo.

now the bambo is not cracked or anything of that sort that i can see just pulling away from the ipe .

thanks in advance for any advice ,
Scott

That's worth a try, then wrap it with strong thread soaked in glue.  I think that would be a good insurance policy.

i would hate to just wrap the trouble area and also would wrapping the entire bow cause any problems ( and i almost hate to do that it has such a nice finish) but will do what it takes ,

thanks,
Scott

I repaired a bow just like you are saying, I taped the limb on one side and filled the other with super glue, then taped that side and turned the bow over and removed the tape and filled that side, the glue had aready ran all the way thur but I added a little and re-taped. The tape saved the finish on the limbs.
