2" x 4" x length of riser - 16", 18", 24".. whatever you are doing.  I usually  buy 2x2 exotic then cut and glue up the way I want it.  The bow I am currently working on I needed a full blank.. so bought a piece of maple that was 2" x 6" x 4'.. so I can do quite a few with accent pieces all in it.
God gave you hands, use them

Big difference between a Pronghorn and a Brackenbury.  What are you wanting to build?
