Why is it recommended to not twist continuous loop bow strings?

Flee, A few twists in an endless string is OK in my opinion. I think it has to do with the noise factor. Endless strings are noticably louder. Good Hunting  Knifemaker

Twisted strings also steal some energy from the bow.  They act like coil springs and try to unwind a bit on every shot which takes away from the bow's power.  Endless loop strings that are kept straight give you the most power from your bow.  Flemish twists that are highly twisted will not perform as well.  

The difference may be minute, but this is how it was explained to me.  I don't think I am tuned in well enough to notice the difference and I just like the looks of a twisted, multi-color string.

May have something to do with the end and center serving loosening up. Just guessing cause I've only made flemish strings........Art

Flee, it is recommended to twist an endless string. Like AK says there is a point of too much twist. I have made them with no twist and they shot fine.

They will round out better with some twist, which makes the serving area nice!

Check with the manufactures, Brownell, BCY, and they will give you reccomendations on twist.

A string that has to be twisted way too much, is a waste of material and adds alot of extra, unneeded weight to the string! Killing the performance of the shot!
