First off, a huge thank you to 4est Trekker for the fantastic buildalong I followed, as well as the rest of the community for support and knowledge. Being that this is my senior year in high school, I was able to take a "fun" class in between calculus and physics: woodshop. My first project was to make a bow, which was questionable at best, given my school's ridiculously strict policies. A fun note though, was that during the final stages of making the bow (it was completely tillered to my liking), the superintendent was visiting the class, looking at projects and what kids were building. I got nothing but support from him! He asked if I hunt, and I said that I don't but I want to. But, being a northern suburb of Chicago, there aren't many places to hunt near here and I don't know anyone that hunts that could teach me. Either way, he thought it was pretty neat, so I guess that's a green light for bow number two which is sure to be on the way.

68" long red oak with reflex tips
67" NTN,
Made a 64" black/blue string with yarn string silencers,
mahogany and red oak riser
leather cord handle wrap, leather arrow rest
2.5" maximum width at riser, tapering to 1/2" wide at the tips
Purple heart nock overlays
Haven't measured set yet but it took some.
Haven't measured draw weight with an accurate scale yet, but it's roughly 50# @ 28"

First day shooting it, got a decent grouping for it being my first experience with longbows in a while. I'm used to the white tail II compound I have, but this one is more fun to shoot (probably because I built it myself!) Roughly 13 to 15 yards.
