White wood bark

When is the best time to remove the bark fro a white wood stave. I have one split in half and was going to split it again. Can you leave the bark on during the drying faze to reduce checks or is it best to remove straight away and seal the back of the bow.
Keep the wind in your face and the sun at your back.

I beleive on most white wood the bark can come off right away and seal the ends with glue or sealer. Leaving the stave a little longer can also help with cracks.
