Two Laminate Boardbow
« on: November 18, 2010, 08:30:00 PM »

My son and I are working on his two laminate boardbow.  It is 64" NTN.  Weight is 47# @ 28 ".  Backing is Hickory.  Belly is quarter sawn White Oak.  Hickory back, wedge is Purple Heart, White Oak, Coco Bolo, Purple Heart, Osage, and the rear of the riser is Cocobolo. Just ordered the string from SBD (yellow and purple). We will add antler tips before finishing. Stain has been applied but no finish yet.

Nice looking bow! How 'bout a better look at the limbs? I'm interested in doing that sort of thing, too.  I like the collor combination; not too flashy but very pretty.

Gorgeous handle - inspiring too! I'm working on a 66" red oak stave (from a back yard tree) with hickory backing and cherry grip. Your shelf looks terrific - can you post some dimensions? (how far off-center it's cut, how thick the handle is, and how wide the limbs are at the fades?)

Really look forward to your full-draw photo too!!

Very pretty looking bow.  I'm sure some memories were made as well.  Have fun shooting it.

Kentowl,

The shelf is cut to center.  The limbs at the fades are 1 3/8", tips 7/16.  From the back of the bow to the rear of the grip is 2 1/8".  The wedge (purple heart) between the Hickory back and the White Oak belly is 5/8" x 14 ".  The riser section is 10" long.  The shelf is cut 1 1/4"  above center of the bow. Hope this helps.  Glad you guys liked the pictures.  Of course the pictures are not near as vivid in color as the actual bow.  As thin (.040) as the osage is, it really pops out with the purple heart and cocobolo.
