I had hand surgery in December, 2009....a carpal-meta carpal arthroplasty. Took about 9 months to recover despite all I tried to do to speed things up. My hand is great now, but I had quite a bit of discomfort...not pain actually....shooting in August, 2010 and I started shooting a little 45# Grizzly, gradually building up to a 56# longbow and recurve. At 60, it occurred to me that I don't have to shoot that heavy so I dropped down to 48-50 and I'm very content. You might want to forget the rasp and drop down to 50# more or less. Hell bro, you can still shoot through a moose with that draw weight and be in no pain at at'll while doing it.
