This one is turning out ok I think. It has bocote handle and tips. 64" NTN. 57# @ 28".

Resized the top pic twice andd it still looks too big. I took out that flat area out on the outer third on the right limb.

So far this bow seems pretty quick. I'm going to shoot it a lot more and check the tiller again.

I'd like to get it down to 50 at 28". It is amazing how little it takes with the scraper to effect a change on a limb.

I think it is the same on both sides. may be the shadow on the pegboard behind right limb.

Jim, I like that bow. How thick are the limbs? I want to make an osage bow and will probably use hickory backing. My attempt at osage last summer didn't go well. I'm using the pieces as accents.

Thank you. At mid limb they are about 1/2". Where you at in Ark? I get my osage boards near Salina Okla.

Well... this bow exploded at 28" Backing separated from the osage. Looks like a starved glue joint. Luckily it was on the tree.

from the pic, it looked like a hinge starting about 1 ft (midlimb) from the handle on the right limb.

Is there where it broke? Real sorry to hear it. Its heart breaking.

Looks like the backing let go about mid limb. Not sure wich one was on the right when she blew. It was quite spectacular, i'll give her that. I didnt rough the to mating surfaces up very well. TBIII was the glue i used.

wow, I see what you mean by glue starved. Did you use alot of clamps? I am always afraid to over clamp.

That's too bad Jim. Looks to me that a grain run off where the fades were cut in is where the failure started.
With TB glues you want smooth flat glue surfaces not grooved or roughed up.

Osage is oily but I've never had a glue failure with TB glues no matter what woods I have used. I do degrease with acetone but I know others that don't.
