Fullerplast on cocobolo

I just finshed another bow,and sprayed the first coat of fullerplast on it.It is a curly maple and cocobolo long-bow.The finish dried just fine on the maple but remained tacky on the cocobolo.If you have a remedy for this I would appreciate any advice on what to do.

Did you clean it with acetone?  Where be the pics???

I wash the cocobolo several times with acetone.  It is a very oily wood and the oils need to be washed off the surface of the wood so the finish can dry.  I have heard of using super glue to seal the wood but have not tried it.  I am not sure if the super glue is used as a finish or just a sealer before the finish is put on.

Hey.. I am having the same issue.  Sanded and cleaned with acetone... still tacky.  I am hoping it will dry up here soon.  Got it next to the fireplace.

Mine is maple and bocate.. but man that was some oily wood.

i just finished a bow with cocobolo using super glue.

i found that the really thin liquid glue works a lot better than the gel type.

after the glue dries sand it down lightly then use your normal finish.

i used a spray on quick dry clear matte finish and it dried well in half an hour.

I've never had that problem since I started using cocobolo.  Try the super glue first.

I was a fullerplast person at first but ran into to many problems as such.  I have switched to the epoxy finish and have had better luck.  I have found that smooth on thinned down with a slow drying thinner works great with any type of woods.  Make sure you use a slow drying thinner so that it doesn't set up to fast.  Then put it in your heat bow for an hour and it will harden up and cure better under heat.
