DIY TD Limbs
« on: January 02, 2011, 11:02:00 AM »
I'm gonna call Binghams tomorrow but was wondering if a set of limbs was a reasonable first timers bow project. I did work as an apprentice in a woodworking shop in college so I'm a familiar with wood but haven't done any bowyers work. Thanks for any tips.

sure. lots of people here started with binghams. myself included. but, why just the limbs? is there a reason you don't want the whole bow? it's not as hard as you may think. just take your time, measure twice cut once, do dry runs before glue ups etc. ask lots of questions. there is unbelievable talent here. everyone willing and eager to help you. good luck.

Thanks Don. I'd love to build the whole bow. My problem is, I like to do everything! I'm trying to stay focused on just what I need to do to. Thanks again.

The only real tricky part will be matching your new holes to the existing riser hole pattern.
If you have an existing limb profile to make a form from you should be good to go.

Thanks curt I do have the orig limbs to copy. I talked to binghams today and it looks like I can get blanks for under $100.

I meant to post earlier, I'm a lefty.
