I guess that work OK but to me it is backwards. Hickory is strong in tension but weaker in compression. Locust is strong in compression. Just seems like it should be hickory backed locust.
I think if I were gonna back the hickory I'd use a less tension strong backing like elm or hard maple.

thanks pat. james sent me the pre-tapered hickory he said was going to be used in a glass bow , but im not set up  for that (yet). i was looking online for elasticity levels , but couldnt find anything.

i wanted to get some of those myrtle veneers from idahocurt , but i couldnt find anything showing how it would hold up as a hickory back.

jamesv said the hickory would only need a light backing , so i was going to make the wife a real pretty target bow. i dont see her doing a whole lot of hunting , so i was thinking something like myrtle veneer , hickory core , and maybe some walnut belly/riser type stuff.

i need to look around in the woods and see whats locally available. i am going to take my time in figuring this one out. i want it to be purty.

i might just go with the green silk for a backing and put the locust on the belly.

another question , i cant find info on gluing in reflex , but i see some people call it perry reflex. does tb3 handle gluing in reflex well?
