Dick I almost forgot to mark you as received. I mean funny I was sneaking along that same ranch and got so caught up in watching your hunt, I let a small group of javies slip by me, so marking bows of my list was low on the list. Oh well maybe next time.

now back to work 32 bows received.out of 83 so 38.5% of the swap is complete. 8 bow in the mail with 51 bowyer awaiting bows so you have a 15% chance of getting one real soon. There is about a week left before the ship date so not hurry or rushing you still have time.  :)

Thank you for the compliments on my nocks everyone! I'm certainly hoping this bow brings my recipient a lot of fun. The great thing for me, besides really settling in on a riser and nock platform I like, is that I was forced to learn to shoot left handed.

Dick, your story had me shaking my head with the most devilish grin I can muster the whole time. Thanks for taking us along!

Here's the pic you asked for Stiks...

I also wanted to say, for those of you hoping to get Broketooth's insanely beautiful Snakey Osage 2-piece Selfbow, you can exhale cause it was on my dining room table when I got home from work thursday night!

Ruddy, WOW man. Honestly, I am going to take way too many pictures of this bad boy in the next day or so, and take these folks on the truly awesome journey of receiving this bow from you. I certainly do not deserve something so nice. I'm sorry I waited to confirm it's delivery, I just haven't been able to figure out what to say!

I STILL don't know what to say. Pics to come soon.

Thanks for the compliments fellas! Dan, i've certainly been blessed with sheer generosity. Ruddy also threw in 3 gorgeous examples of arrows and a bow sleeve to boot.

Stiks and Mr. B, you guys can certainly attest to Ruddy's excellent work. I would never bet that was his first selfbow example.

Hey guys.

Just a heads up that my trade bow will be going out tomorrow.  I am having computer issues right now so it's hard for me to post. I'm using my daughters iPod to post this. I was also gone all week pig hunting.  Anyhow the bow is done and I think it turned out great. Hope my recipient likes it. Will be shipped via priority mail first thing tomorrow.

Thanks again to everyone involved!

Posted (couriered) mine today   :)
So for those of you who are interested...the cheapest I could get away with to send it from South Africa to the US was ZAR 1523 and some cents which = US $ 226 and some cents.....
DHL wanted to charge me almost double that!!!

Guess next time I take part I'll try to make a takedown. The length of the tube was the only reason I couldn't send it for a third of the price via our postal service (who only handle packages up to 100 cm in length)

A few years back I sent bows to Australia, France and Holland.  I quickly learned that if there is one single reason to justify takedowns, it foreign shipping!   It helps a heck of a lot in the US, too.     :)

For all our US folk, happy 4th of July.   Don't forget what it's about, and for those who understand, "Gary Owen, sir!"

I'm going to spend a beautiful day in the shop with the door open and start a new bow.  I blew one a couple weeks back and I think I'm not ready, mentally, to try that one again.

i hear ya dick. i worked on the osage stick today for a couple hours , and got it down almost looking like a bow. its still probably 1.5 to 2" in cross section , but it has plenty-o-knots on the belly...

i think this whole next year , im going to get a handful of good boards , concentrate on super clean glue lines , and just make a bunch. once i got my longbow done , i pretty much stopped building em. i really do enjoy it , but i will enjoy it more , when my 200 sq ft garage is cooled by a 18,500 btu ac unit...

no pics , im whooped. just look at the last pics , and take off a buncha wood...thats what it looks like.

oh yeah , measurments are going to end up aaround

upper limb 30-32" , lower limg 28" max (due to split) , and around 10" handle ... gonna make it bend through the handle , keeping it at 48-50# , for safety and longevity... aiming for 47.390005 lbs at full draw , but who's counting...

It is 65.5" NTN and pulls 50# @ 28".  Came from a stave cut back in January 2008.  Has Phenolic tips to make it FF compatible and holds about 1" of set after shooting.

Anyhow here are the pictures.....Enjoy!
