Spacers, end grain covers glued in place.
Extra phenolic ground off.
Fit came out good. It's hard to get the machining depth perfect so that there are no gaps in between the spacers. If you go too deep, the halves won't go together, if you go too shallow, there'll be a gap between the spacers. I left a bit of a gap and let the epoxy fill it up while the spacers got glued on. You use the joint to hold the spacers in place when you glue them on. That's when you can make it back into a one piece if you're not careful.
Alignment is good and the stave feels very solid when the joint is fully seated. No movement side to side when the stave is shaken.
And after all this work, I've got a takedown stick.
Hope I can make it into a good bow.... if not.... plan B.
