Beautiful bow again Greg!

I started on my trade bow this weekend. It's a straight limbed Hill style longbow with walnut limbs, actionboo core, and curly maple riser.  The glueup went well.  However, I missed weight pretty badly and will need to make another.  This one was a bit shorter than I usually make them, so I was trying to account for that in the total stack and I guess I missed it.  It's about 10# too light.

My Dad has been toying with the idea of getting back into archery and this one will be a good weight for him. So I'll finish it out and give it to him for his birthday coming up.

I think my next attempt at my trade bow should come out better given my experience with this one.  I plan on using the same materials and design and I figure if I want to gain 10-15# and assume 0.003 per pound in this style of bow, I should increase my total stack thickness by 0.030 - 0.045. How does this sound to you other glass laminated builders? - Just looking for some reassurance here.

John

Greg, love the wood combinations on this one as well as the first, someone will be a happy camper when that arrives.

Pat, great work as always, looking forward to seeing her all dressed up.

My trade bow is coming in at the bottom end of my desired range, may have to shorten a little and re-bend the recurves.  Will probably have to add some tip underlays to beef up the recurves, since they start to thin down just above the peak of the curve now and don't think they would handle the stress......Dan

Great job Greg and Pat! Looking good guys.

Hey Pat.......could I get a little closer look at the back of that bow? Or did you purposely stay too far away so I couldn't see any detail?   :saywhat:

I have a piece of Hickory that is calling to me now, thanks to you.
Take care.

Here is a quick Photo history of where my trade bow is right now- I went with the birds eye maple over brazilan ebony in the riser- the limbs are bamboo lams and black glass:

I shot it some yesterday along with my son- he tried to talk me out of it-lol. It will make the weight xxx requested- here it is with the first coat of sanding sealer on it- the ebony will get much darker then it is right now-

That is beautiful Trux!  I love the contrast in the wood colors.

I have my 2nd attempt trade bow glued up with 1 3/4" of reflex.  I roughed it out yesterday and am going to try to get to floor tiller today...
