Decided to split up my last osage stump.  With the extra day of for MLK Jr. day I might be able to fix up a couple of the staves.  Here's today's progress and it's kinda starting to look like a bow.  Still a bit green on the inside but looking good.

Decided to make a new caul as well... my wife laughed at me because I'm now addicted to "blogging" about my bows.  Who says it's bad to read Traditional Bowyer's Bible 4 between the football plays?

We've had a weekend visiter here so I haven't had a chance to pick out a stave yet. I did decide before I recieved a name I was gonns build a 60" osage(probably) static recurve and thankfully it will fit my reciepient. d;^)  So tomorrow I will go to the wood stack and pick out a suitable stave and try to get it reduced somewhat. I will doccument this build also like last year.

I posted that I picked out a good pice of osage but I really been contemplating going with a R/D trilam since I noticed my recipient seems to like those.

That ought to put me out of my comfort zone but it will be fun.

We'll just have to see how things go. I am definetly gonna do something different that I have not done before to push my limits and expand my horizons

KellyG: I've got to get as much work as I can in now because I've got a little boy on the way.  Due in April and if I have heard correctly all I need to do to prepare is sleep and finish any project that can't be put on hold for 18 years    :knothead:

goose;i dont know about anyone else , but my son (born april as well , 15th to be exact) was never much for crying , or pacifiers. he sure loved to watch me do things though. even now , if its somewhat close to nice outside , i go out and do my shaving on the patio where he can watch me. he's going to be 2 this year , and hes getting a bow for his birthday. he already says "bo" when i am getting ready for target shooting. he even pulls the string pretty well...

lol you guys are just too easy...i was going to say that scale must be set up for dick's bow , but i didnt want it to sound like i was picking on 'im...lol..

getting some pics uploaded now. i dont know if this locust is going to work out. the rings are paper thin , and its twisted more than i remembered it being...

On the bow building side, I have been in the shop working on about ten staves for this thing in between drying coats of truoil for Balding Kansan's bow. It's about finished... still, but I did get the skins to work out with a new bottle of tb3. I should have it mailed off by Friday!
