I also think that's an awesome idea, why don't you go ahead with it Ranger since you were the first one to ship your bow.

Hey ??????????  Worked on your bow some more today. She is starting to look more like a bow now. Got side tracked and forgot to document all the steps but she recieved some Gemsbuck horn tips and is rough tillered with a little more weight to drop off.
Here are a few pics showing the nocks being done.

Shaped the tips, cut in the groves and did a sand down on the horn before applying her new skins. Forgot pics while working the tips down. Here is where she is now.

The skins are over the sinew so I will give her a good week to dry before finall tiller and sand out.

:bigsmyl:    Thanks guys. Sure is fun thinking about what your victim, I mean recipient, might want.

I give myself another try at this tillering thing and Hey, I think I got it this time. I reached my draw length, I wanted and reached the weight I was trying to get too. I built my riser with a rounded curve on the side facing the back and was able to get more arc. I hope ya'll know what I'm trying to say.All the other bows had a straight or flat bottom on the risers. When I pull to full draw it was easier to get my arc. on the limbs. It is a laminated hickory backed longbow with a hickory belly lam. Here is a picture of the tillering.

Keenan, Man I respect those snakes, and when I opened your post I actually jumped. That thing looked real laying there. Good job on your bow, it really looks good. Someone ought to really be proud of that besides you.

Keenan- Very cool skins. I like the way that juniper contrasts like that.

Well Got the stain and the trueoil on ---'s bow today. Made a string and handle wrap for it and have been shooting it. It's a little too much bow for me though.Guess those North of me grow bigger. I need to put the writing on and shoot--'s bow a little more and ship it out . Need a little more time to play with it. I sure hope it's close enough to please---. Sure was fun.

Wow, the bows are really coming together now.
Nice work everyone.

I started mine this weekend (actually second try - first one came out a bit too light).  I have to head out of town this week for work, so won't get a chance to work on it again until next weekend.  Why is it that work always gets in the way of important things?

It appears there are some great looking bows nearing the finish stage, I would be happy with any of them.

  :clapper:    :clapper:    :clapper:

Well, my bow student finished his bow today, now there will be time to get back to the Osage selfbow.  I have a BBI and R/D glass bow sanded and in a bow-sock, ready for the spray booth.  The Osage selfbow is just starting floor tiller.  When all three are finished, I’ll post pictures of them and see which one the perspective recipient likes, or if he does not see the post, whichever one that is the most popular, and send it on.  The other two will go to Tradgangs St. Judes Auction.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
