Definitely a lot of talent here!  They look great.

Ran into a fellow bowyer at a local Gun show today.  He said he visits TG but is a lurker.  I've got his email and phone number, I'm going to try to get him to come out of the shadows.

Get this, I go to 3RA and get the lams to bump up the weight on this bow. While I'm there I get a few other things one of which is a new digital bow scale. I come home and get the lams glued on as soon as I can. So yesterday I'm working down the edges and getting ready to re-tiller. The glue line isn't the greatest on one limb so I fill in a spot and I'm waiting for it to dry so I get out the new scale and try it out.

I try it on another bow I've been working on and it turns out to be about ten pounds heavier than I thought it was! So I check out some bows with known weights and sure enough it is accurate! This means I just put limb underlays on a bow that was plenty heavy enough! What I thought was 42# @ 28" was really 52# @ 28"!!!

I guess I don't have enough experience to feel the difference or maybe I thought I was just having a "weak" day when they seemed heavier than I thought they were.  :smileystooges:        :o

Looking great, everyone. Really awesome bows you're turning out. I'm checking this thread way too much to see if there's any progress at all since five minutes ago...

We are half way to the deadline! Should start getting real good now, more bows finding new homes and lots of happy bowyers shooting other bows from the Gang.

Thanks guys for the compliments. I've had her in the house on some elk antlers by the stove to help make sure the sinew has completely cured out since adding the skins. Got the edges trimmed up to show a small reviel of the sapwwod. In a few days I'll start the final tiller and see how she shoots. Often it is wise to not do the skins untill you have a "shooter" and know it will hold up. However with the sinew I feel confindent she is going to hold up to the draw length of ** for *********.  Talked to a friend of ***** and he thinks he will be pleased.   :bigsmyl:

Gene that is a very nice looking bow, Good job on the tiller. However thirty inches is about five inches over my draw lenght. LOL
Former that has some very nice character and going to be a real head turner.
Bone, nice looking takedown. Great combo of woods.

Wow so many are done and I'm still working on getting started. I have striped down some juniper to get it ready to try to ruff it out. I am having a hard time seeing a bow on anything I have cut. It looks good on the tree but when I get home it's to twisty or knotty. Here's one.

It split alittle funny being thin and twisted on one end. It has some bug damage on one end too but I think I can get a shorter bow out of it maybe 55".

I would realy like to do one from juniper stave for the swapp but if I fail have have another board bow I also starting on. If Keenan would stop making all those pretty juniper bows I'd leave this twisty juniper alone lol.

Here's my trade bow after the first round of heating.  I've since gotten it tillered on the short string out to 10 inches and tweaked one limb with heat again to line things up.  I've got to correct one little whoop-dee-do to get the string to track the way I want it, and then I'll continue tillering.  :)

Well this is my first laminated bow(bamboo, osage ,hickory and yew) .If you look back in my post's it came out way to light due to me using too abrupt reflex in my form.So i went ahead and tillered it out .It came out 25 pounds's too light. So I Cut the riser off, laminated 1/8" osage lambs to the belly.Clamped it to a straight form and it came out 25 pounds too heavy. But the tiller still looked great. So i removed wood from the belly and worked it down within four pounds of the max target weight.I thought with the finish sanding and shooting in it would loose the four pounds.Well it didnt. But the bow shoots great, very well mannered.Ive ben shooting the heck out of it for allmost two months since I finished it.I wanted to make sure it would hold up for its new owner.I even shot a 3-d shoot with it and did rather well. Its well shot in.Im very happy with the way it turned out.the only issue I have is it is 4 pounds over my persons max target weight.I really dont want to try to take any more off the belly because my finish turned out good.(7 coats of tru oil).So im asking. What do you think fellas should I ship it?

Ship it, Scott! 4 lbs. over shouldn't be a problem. That's a nice lookin' bow. An underlay of 1/8" osage seems to have made quite a difference in poundage.  I've been contimplating using an underlay on one of my first board bows that came out pretty light.  Just to see how it'll work.  You just convinced me it would do well.
Great work.  :archer2:
