David, I got a template of your caul coming in the mail! Looks like it turns out some sweet bows.

Keenan, she looks like a shooter. I'm sure ************ will be pleased. I know I would be.

I'm gonna use your caul design for my trade bow David so I may be giving you a call to pick your brain on it. Let me know if your going to the classic and I will round you up  a few good staves of some hackberry or something.

I'm going to try my best to get there. Work may have other ideas. I'm already taaking off some time for turkey hunting this month so we'll see if it happens.

DVS -- Go for the simple beauty of wood.  Don't cover it up with skins.  Especially given the bumper sticker in the background.

David, I think you're right. I already started with the overlays, but man, are these rings thin.  I've pulled it an inch past draw so i feel confident its safe.

Ok, the slacker has finally ordered his boo.  While on the phone I also decided to get some smoothon from Binghams as well and try that.

The kids spring break is only a week away, and guess who gets to stay home with them?  Should mean time to get this thing started.  With any luck, I won't be the last to ship.

One more coat of finish, add a leather wrap to the grip, and XXXXX's bow will be finished. Should be done by Saturday or Sunday and shipped out early next week.  I'll post some pics this weekend.

Some real nice looking bows being built...I got started last weekend and made a mess in the shop on some Hackberry but it's still a bit wet.

I think I may speed things up a bit this weekend.

Finished my Swap Bow this morning.
It's a Hill Style longbow; walnut on the back and belly under clear glass; actionboo core; curly maple riser and tips.  I test fired a few this morning and I really like how it turned out.  Hope XXXXX likes it.  I'll ship it out sometime early this next week.

Here's some pics.

Of course on this last one I had to hide XXXXX's name, the draw weight, and draw length to keep you all guessing who's getting it.

WestTexan, The hackberry that I used for my trade bow turned out well I hope yours does too. I've never worked with it before, but liked working with it and plan to cut some more as soon as the leaves start to pop.
jsweka, I like the look of the walnut and maple together, makes a fine looking bow....Dan

It was Christmas in April at my house today, my bow from Mr. Gillis arrived this morning.  I couldn't be happier with the bow, very good looking bow.  I shot some arrows through it and they flew really good even though they weren't spined right at all.  I am very please with the bow.  Mr. Gillis also sent some arrows and stone points that I'm guessing he knapped along with the bow.  My one big hunting goal is to kill a deer with a stone point and its lookin like I might have a real good shot at it this fall thanks to the kindness of Mr. Gillis.  The caliber of people one this site continues to amaze me, thank you very much Mr. Gillis and thanks to the rest of tradgang.

Here she is

Heck yeah Rogers! Looks you'll be hunting with some stone heads.

I missed a doe this past fall with a stone head. My heart was pumping harder than if it was a big buck. Great thrill hunting with primitive gear.
