Today I was minding the flyshop for a friend, when a young man and his wife came in. He was carrying a 3-piece recurve, unstrung. Because the shop had previouly included a compound oriented bowshop, he wanted to inquire about some problems he was having with his recently purchased used bow.
He said he was getting string slap, not just on his forarm, but all the way to his thumb.
So I stung the bow, and found the string was way too long---brace hight was only 'bout 3 inches. OUCH!
So, I gave him the info on the closest shop that knows how to launch an arrow without wheels, talked a little about arrow choices, shooting form and practice, gave him my phone number, and this website address. Expect he will be showing up here for some help---and I know you all will give him what he needs in that regard.
