OJAM?
« on: January 20, 2011, 03:44:00 PM »
Anyone going to OJAM this year?  Would love to know someone before showing up.  Not that I know any strangers it's always nice to see a familiar face.

I'll be at the Tenn Classic but not OJAM or MoJam. I've wanted to go to MoJam since it began but haven't made it yet. Being from the south I can imaging what July feels like in MO and that plus 14 hour drive has kept me away.

OBG, I believe OJAM is the Oklahoma Bow Jamboree, similar to MoJam but in Oklahoma!
If any bow builders(or not) has the chance to go to the Tenn Classic, I will gaurentee you won't regret it...unless you don't like rain! Last year we had 14" in 2 days(Same time as Nashville's flood) and it has rained at each of the 14 Classics so far. Plenty of bow building and cover to work, eat and play under and not a sour face in the crowd(over 300 last year) last year.

I'll be there again this year, but I'm not haulin any osage! Then I'll be at the tenn. classic and of course MOJAM. It will be just chris and I at ojam and the classic, but mojam will be us and the boys again. They won't let us go without them.

There are several of us who will serve as "mentors" and help folks building bows. We will also have seminars throughout the weekend.

Goose, God willing and nothing happens between now and then I plan on making it there again this year. I have been lucky and made all of them so far.

A side note I think we meet in Ozark a few years ago. So if that true then you know someone. I ran a bread route in Ozark then.

There will be alot of teaching, coaching, and learning going on at Ojam. If you can go and want to learn to build wood bows thats a good place to start. There is normally several seminars giving on different things. There is always someone close by to lend a hand on bow making, flint knapping, arrow building and a ton of other things. Try to make it if you can.

Were you at the kids archery day at Holla Bend Refuge a few months ago? I think I read something a few days ago that said you hunted Holla Bend?

If you have any questions send me a PM or email I'll try to answer them if I can.

Longbowhntr: I will know someone then.  I wondered where you went when I saw a different Wonderbread driver.

Tommy: I'll definitely send you a PM

When is the Tenn classic and is there a website for it?

Pappy might have something in the Trad Events. I think it is April 29,30 and May 1, 2011. Some folks get there during the week before.
Tommy, if I had the time and money I'd go to all of these events. Thanks for the invite though.

Pat, those are the dates. It was going to be earlier until they relized that it clashed with mothers day.

Like dave said were gonna try and make the trifecta. Should catch all seasons. 100 degrees at mojam. 75 on fri and 12in of snow on sat at ojam. And the way I understand it plenty of rain at tenn. Good thing I'm from missouri we've grown to expect the unexpected here in the show me state

With a baby due in mid-April I think Ojam is a two thumbs up but Tenn a no brainer for me to stay at home with my new son.  MOJam is potential if I can bring a few friends and make it a testosterone trip after the baby.  Loved the people and bows at MOJam not the weather.

Well if google is right it is about 5 hours to where it is at from my house in KS. I may be able to get the wife to by in on that when I get back. Do they have crafts there? she loves old crafts form smithing to wood.
