Show off your shop

Im interested in seeing everyones shop. I am trying to get mine set up and tailored for bow building and am looking for ideas. Here's mine.

Leme think about it. Hahaha. I would like to see pics, I need to get some ideas, maybe grouping of certain tools, different tools, jigs, anything that might speed up build time or make it easier to get it done.

My rasps are in one pile, and my sandpaper/scrapers are in another. Thats about it for my shop. My power tools/dust makers are in the garage while my shop is in the basement. I dont build glass bows though, that changes everything.

Mine is in my basement. Much smaller, roughly 16' x 12'. I just put up two walls, tired of dust throughout basement. Once I get the walls and electric finished, I need to set up a dust collection system. Will get pics on here later. At work right now.

How do you guys get any work done in a shop that clean. Seriously?

Here's how I do it..................

My shop has an overhead door and when I get ready to tiddy up I raise the door and get my gas-powered leaf blower. Works great........

Another tip............

Always have two of every tool, so when you can't find one that is under something else you will have a spare, save lots of time......

Well, it's not always that clean. I try to clean it after each job but sometimes it doesn't work out like that. I do know what you mean about the 2 tools though, it seems I spend alot of time trying to find stuff when I get going.

Here's my modest "shop"...half the garage...and spilling over into her half at times! Hope to build onto the pump house and move everything out there.

I would've rather had mine in the garage. But the wife needed a place to park her car. Can't beat the concrete floor and being able to just take a few steps and your in the house. I would try to convince her to move her stuff out there. hahaha. Good luck with that one. How do those Jet tools work? I have heard alot of good things about them.

Here's a thread from last year.
Your shop looks great. I would recommend using 4" flex hose from the gates to the machine. Using 2" hose will turn a 650 cfm dust collector into a 300 cfm really quick. I use two 4" hoses with the bandsaw and it isn't enough.

This is the shop "at rest".   Every item is on wheels, even the workbench.  Whatever is being used is wheeled out to the center of the room, or, in good weather, the driveway.   After each operation, that tool is put away and at least minor cleanup is done.   Only way to survive in this small a space.

Nice shop! I really like the long workbench. I need to do something like that. I've been having to put a piece of plywood on top of my table saw. You have alot of space between equipment too. All of mine is pretty much on top of each other. I have been working on rearranging to make some more space the last few days and have made a little. Now I'm getting some ideas. Thanks for sharing!

my shop is just a corner of the in-laws garage. before that it was the kitchen table.

thee wife says i dont have to worry , that the house we get this spring will have a garage and a basement. she likes me being able to fix cars and make money , and she said she will NOT have a mess all over the house...


i still dont know how she expects me to get cars down to the basement...

Thanks Dick, I like the idea of tools on wheels, I will have to do some of that as well.

Hova, that was a requirement when we got our house a few years ago, had to have a 2 car garage and a large lot so I could build something. Those were my only requirements, she had a whole list of them. hahaha

this is my garage. it used to have a free standing work bench. i thought my garage deserved something better so i built my own overhead cabinets and work bench. its still a work in progress due to me building bows too. here are some pics. . i use my shop a lot. the #1 rule in my shop is mess= progress. ruddy

My shop is a poor mans bow shop.  It is a 8x24 room off of the garage.  It isn't much, but I insulated it so I can heat it during winter.  Most of my tools were craigslist specials.

I hope my wife doesnt see the pics of how clean  yalls shops are. Shes always hounding me about cleanin mine up, and I always say, "You cant build bows and keep the shop clean." Guess you guys are provin me wrong here.
