1st Hill off the new form
« on: January 29, 2011, 09:06:00 AM »
And it came out exactly at the target weight.  I love building these Hill bows.

Its 66" NTN, 57# @ 28".  Cocobolo handle, bamboo core and ERC veneers.  The Veneers split on me when I glued it up but you can't really tell in the finished product...as split cedar looks like cedar.

I put black glass tip wedges and made the bottom limb 1" short than the top.  Black elk leather grip, FF string with padded loops.

Did you just use a staight form, and if so what did it consist of?

I've been thinkin about building one of these my self this summer
Striker stinger 58" 55# @ 28
any wood bow I pick off the rack.

I actually used a form with 3/4" of reflex in it.. I posted a build along of that form a month or so ago.  As you can see in that side profile pick it maintained 1/2" of backset.

beautiful bow!    very mild reflex?    Could we see a pic of the form?   I'm thinking of building a new one this spring, maybe getting a little adventuresome.

Dick, that pic was immediately after unstrung (it was strung overnight to stretch the string)...it will gain another 1/8" or a little more as it sits.  Here is a link to the form.

That is a great looking bow! Looks like Dick might have a patner for his evil plan. If that is not your swap boe I really can wait to see what you come up with for that.
