Osage Selfbow by Tenbrook
« on: January 29, 2011, 10:50:00 AM »
Wanted to show some pictures of an Osage Selfbow I just finished up.  It is 65.5" NTN and pulls 50# @ 28".  Came from a stave cut back in January 2008.  Has Phenolic tips to make it FF compatible and holds about 1" of set after shooting.  Tillered the bow for hunting and heavy arrows.

I was going to make this my "Trade Bow" but my camera took a dump while I was building so I didn't have a chance to take any pictures of the build.  I would like to take photos of the build I'm doing for my "Trade Bow" so I guess I'll just hang on to this one.  Might use it this season for some deer.

Anyhow here are the pictures.....Enjoy!

Tenbrook

Thanks for all the replies!

I would like to hear what you guys think of the tiller......good or bad?

In the picture above I'm drawing it to 29.5" (my draw) which is about 54#.

Thanks!

Funny thing is it was twisted up real bad with a gnarly dog leg.

Put it on the caul and got it straightened out real nice.

Cody, I think the bow looks very nice, the tiller is sweet, maybe on the next bow you could get the limbs bending just a tad more at the flares, it will help smooth up the draw some and add to its longevity.

I like bows look verry clean and once the osage darkens up it will be very nice lookin. As for the tiller, I think you did ok, it needs to bend into the fades more and also a bit more bend out towards the tips past midlimb.
