beech wood for bows?

hey all i have an uncle who gave me some beech wood to make a bow out of the growth rings are running straight down the board and its a 1x2 i have never heard of making a bow from this wood can it be done and has anyone made one? thanks for all your input tou can give me

I haven't used beech but with a proper design it should work, keep it long and wide, a backing of linen or silk will help. I'm guessin 40 to 50 lbs should be possible.
