Knawbone,

I wouldn't give up hope.  I've heard there is some in the finger lakes area, I've been to Painted Post, so I know you're not far from there.

Be careful John.  Chainsaws can be mean SOB's, especially when you add the dangers of felling trees.  Really need to keep your wits about you.

Ranger 3,

This time of year, I'd say the latest is 6:30 in my area.  Can't use a chainsaw after dark  :)

Oh you meant time of year I bet.  In that case, there is no such a thing as a bad time to cut osage.  I'm pretty sure I've cut in every month except December.  August in Cincinnati was kinda hot.

I will try and get pics but this place is kind of an unknown.  Might be a bust.  Good thing it's only 30 minutes away.  I have 3 other places to cut right now so I'll end up with something soon.

I live in the Finger lakes area and there are a handful of osage trees. Not abundant by any means but certainly available. Until this year they were of little interest to me, but have plans in the works.

John and Burnt, Nice Haul!

Just one recommendation, you need a truck.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Looks like fun.  As soon as the ground dries up a little, I am going to try to harvest osageasaurus.  I need to call in a favor to my brother-in-law and his tractor.
