question about making a form for a recurve

i am in the process of making a form for a recurve and i am using bingham 1 3/4" limb design. in making my form it looks as thought i am going to be an 1 13/16" on the width of my form. is that 1/16" going to matter or do i need to get it to 1 3/4"

If you are gluing up from plywood, you can add something in between sheets to make a full 1 .75"

Lots of guys are using LVL, comes in exact widths form the lumberyard.

If you have a 1 3/4 strip to glue to the face of the form, you can do that and then bondo under the lip so the glue doesn't hang there when removing bow from form.

Probably many other ways to skin this cat also!.

my next question is if the taper that bingham blueprints call for necssary. it just looks like the air hose would put the same amount of pressure on the laminates.

The reverse taper glued to form?

The reason for this is so the riser fits form properly after you insert the limb taper, so no gaps at the end of fades.

I also ended up just under 1/16" over on my first form, I sanded down one side a little before I glued down my tapers and glass strip..I haven't had any problems.

From my experience, it is very difficult to laminate 3 sheets of plywood and have it turn out truely flat. If you do, be sure to check  it with a straight edge before you use it and have a bow glue up with a curve in it. Listen to Kenny and use a lam beam. Its cheaper than plywood, about 6 bucks a foot for a 1&3/4 x 16". And its straight and flat. I'll never make a plywood form again.  John
