I generally go 48" long, 1" wide and 3/8 thick for real little ones like 4-6 yr olds.

1" at the fades and taper it down to ?" or just leave it 1" all the way?  It is nominal 3/4" thick.

Take a 1/4"x2"x4' straight grained board with a glue on handle works wonders for kids bow.

Pyramid taper.  Almost self tillered.

3/8" wide tips, straight taper from the handle is fine.
