On a recurve especially, take your time and make a good fit overlay to glass. Also rough the glass up ,I use 40 grit.
I have used 2 ton epoxy, CA and Smoothon for overlays. If I'm in a hurry on my own stuff(always) I use CA,have never had one come off.
The one overlay I had come off was on the first bow I made, antler, I think the porous antler sucked up the glue and starved the glue joint.It was 2 ton epoxy,but don't think it would have mattered,the antler looked like a dry joint when it came off.
You might want to bevel the end that blends into the glass to a fairly sharp edge to ease sanding in later.
