my bbo
« on: March 16, 2011, 12:53:00 PM »
here is my bbo. i made it back in 2004.i never took draw pics of it until now. cherry handle and tip overlays.it's 66", 1 3/8" at the fades tapering to 1/2" and the last 4" is 3/8" wide and 3/8" thick. the limbs are equal length and equal tiller. the shelf is 1 1/4" above center.i recently changed the handle from sisal wrap to laced up leather (see need a handle fix post).i named the bow "miss colleen" after my wife.

Nice tiller!  New darker leather handle looks better also... I like the contrast.  Looks great!

Nice job Don, I think one of those is in store for this boy here in the near future.
How much increase in performance to you notice with the bamboo backing? I love using Osage and I know that putting curves in your wood will add some zip to your tip, but if I could just get a little more speed to go along with the forgiveness I'd be completely happy. It just seems like I can build some real nice shooters, but they are way slow in my opinion. That's if I stick with the 10 gpp rule, which I think a person should with a selfbow so you don't over stress the limbs.
