Good job Chris!

What does it feel like when you drop the string?

Looking at the pictures brings back a lot of good memories for me.

They took me back to my days of handkerchiefs full of "yellar snot", small nicks and splinters sticks from fingers to forearms, strained eyes from chasing some very thin ringed tight growth hedge.

But just like you, it was all worth it because when I ws finished..... I had a stick.

But it was a special stick because it would fling an arrow!

Keep shaving wood Chris, you'll only get better at it!!

Thanks for sharing my friend.

God bless,Mudd

Thanks Roy, yep it's all just like that. My hands get stained from working with Osage and it takes days for it to wear off when I'm done. I love it!

If you cut me I bleed yellar!

Yellar is Redneck slang for Yellow.  :goldtooth:

That arrow is on my custom made arm guard, I got tired of sloppy arm guards with adjustable stretchy bands that always slide around and never seem to fit right so I made one that fits my forearm perfectly and it wears just like a shirt sleeve.

Thanks for the compliments Ricky.

It's pretty smooth Ruddy. I was having some slight accuracy problems, then I checked my brace height and realized that the string had finally settled in and creeped on me about 3/4"
So I added some more twist to the string and Bam.....it came right back to the center of the target.

I'm glad I had the foresight to check my brace ht. first rather than start jacking around with my string nock position.

I'm learning, little by little, but I am learning. That's just proof in the pudding of hanging out with good company here on Trad Gang.

About 6 months ago checking the brace height wouldn't have even occured to me.

Chris, that is a good looking bow.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Great looker Chris. That is some good looking osage you got up your way, the stuff we got down here round this old swamp is not near as clean. I was home yesterday with what ever bug is going around and entertained myself pretty much all day just heating and straightening a piece so the string will stay on it.

Thanks guys, glad you all enjoyed the pics. Bow swap bow build is coming real soon!
I need to get that one done before turkey season get's here.

Hey Jeff, I bet y'all got plenty of water to flood those cypress swamps down there now don't ya? We were just down at Wappapello yesterday and they actually had the river part drawn down too low. I thought it would be high, but evidently they are letting out lots of water in preperation for the spring rains that are just beginning.

BTW- I had that same virus your talking about and dang near ended up with pnemonia from it, so be careful with it. That's some bad stuff and we all had it here and everybody ended up on antibiotics to get over it. Uuuuggghhh!

you wasn't tryin to catch some of those crappie were ya? Man they been catching some nice fish this last week. Not me just got back from the doc with a bag full of meds and orders from the wife to get some sleep (like it is gonna help, haven't slept in 2 days what is another one gonna hurt )

Seriously, you ought to see the piece I am trying to straighten today, most would make fire wood out of it, one of these days I will get a nice straight clean piece of osage that will change my mind about it. I have trouble seeing the bend for all the knots and kinks, have yet to make a really pretty tillered sage bow.

Gonna make a trip up your way before too long, gonna check out that hard woods dealer up there.Needing some ash backing and hate to buy it by the piece for a oak bow. Found some hog sign Saturday at the lake, if I can find a good place for a bait pile you may have to come down and bring one of those pretty sage bows to help a fellar out in case a hickory bow wont get the job done.

We caught some crappie up by 67 hwy bridge at Greenville, that's usually where we put in. We caught a ton of small ones and only 3 that went over 10", but kept 11 white bass and 1 large mouth. Pretty decent day actually, didn't really tear them up by any means, but it beats the crap outta sittin in the house.

Man it would be cool to kill a hawg in my own home state. That's definitely on my bucket list.
Thanks for the offer......Git R Done!!

Ill get over this what ever it is and scout it out a little more, my wifes uncle had one run across in front of him deer season not a mile from where I found the rubs. Trick is to coax them out after daylight. We have a growing population around the lake but they stay nocturnal. A little corn soaked in raspberry jello will help keep them interested until the sun comes up ,
