Man, I give you credit!  I don't think I could ever build something like that, let alone work with easy stave!!  Great job!

Goose, What a great job on a tough piece of wood.  You've inspired me, I have a piece that is similar to that with a knot in sort of the same location, was going to cut it up for fire wood, but after seeing what you've accomplished with yours, I'll give it a try.  The knot in mine is solid though, don't know what problems that will create, but we'll find out.....Dan

I know I've enjoyed this challenge and can't wait to find another like it in the future.  Thanks for all the kudos everyone.  I'm working on some special touches before getting a finish on it.  Hopefully I will be able to finish it out before my son gets here.  Due date is April 19th.  Any day now!

Dan jump in and get your feet wet for sure.  I know the knot I have isn't bending much at all if any if it helps you out.  Not sure about a knot that is still attached though  :)

I will keep my eye out for a new challenge as we are making some staves for next year. Maybe I will have a real surprise for you at Ojam or Mojam next year.
Congrats to you and your wife

Here's a couple of pictures... one from my buddy's bow that he has now shot so we can call it a bow.  The second is a sneak peak of the tips that are going on the bow.  Maybe this weekend I can get to putting a finish on this bow  :)

So I spent some time tonight fixin up the tips, putting a final sanding, and putting on a finish.  I'm still wondering if I'm going to put on a handle or leave it as is and shoot off my hand.  I'm extremely happy with how the tips turned out and the finish really lets the nastiness of the hole show.  Took some better pictures with my wife's camera to really show it off.  Thanks for looking.

If not for anything else, it is quite the conversation piece.  It looks fantastic.  What a looker it became from its' humble beginnings.  Good luck with your hole in the wall shooter, congrats again on it and seeing it to fruition.

Looks really good Goose.  I have a stave at the house that has two knots on either side near the mid-point.  This has got me thinking about leaving them in as arrow rests.
I, Nephi, did make out of wood a bow, and out of a straight stick, an arrow and did go forth up into the top of the mountain and did obtain food for our families and they did humble themselves before the Lord, and did give thanks unto him. 1 Nephi 16

Man Goose talk about guts. But, no guts no glory. So now you got some glory too. Very impressive work brother. Hope I can come through as nicely! That bow is so sweet.
