I have a hard time leaving the Hawk and Owl feathers alone. I see at least 3-5 a week dead along the roadway. I can only imagine what a dozen fletched up with them would look like.

Congrats on finding a few usable wings. Turkey seasons are opening up in most states so hit up all Your shotgunning buddies for those wings. I get 4 or 5 extra sets a year from friends who don't use them.

You might want to check your state's regs about picking up turkeys/parts along the road especially with the seasons upon us.  If you need a license to hunt them you may need some paperwork to pick up a road kill.  I know you do in MN.

No problem with Turkey feathers in Pa. But if  you get caught with a red tail hawk feather, you are in deep doo doo.

The dead Turkey won't need those wings any more,I say hack em off and leave the rest of the bird in case you need to show were you got them.It obviously wasn't shot.Too many stupid laws I say. Getting so you can't fart without breaking a law.If you can safely pull off the road and not create a traffic hazard and the birds obviously been dead awhile, then I say finders keepers rules apply.I'v seen too many animals totally rot and go to waste here in my state. It's hard to follow the letter of the law sometimes when the spirit of the law- and the animals- has been violated.Just my 2c's for what its worth.

Totally agree with knawbone. Not like anything is going to eat the wing feathers off a turkey anyways. The first time I put one in the car I did get a pretty dirty look from the wife though. HAHA

a good source of free canada goose feathers here in new york is a golf coarse or other place where geese congregate. then around june or july they moult and full wing feathers are all over the place. you can get garbage bags full. just seperate left from right and have at it. i believe the goose feathers have a natural oil in or on them that makes them weather resistant. i would think that most people here know of a place near them where the geese hang out in numbers. don

A good place I have found to pick up nice whole feathers of many different varieties is a hobby store.  All kinds of different colors and breeds.  They are usually pretty cheap.  We have a Hobby Lobby here and they have a large selection.
