Snakey one with a hole (pics)
« on: April 22, 2011, 08:52:00 PM »
Still waiting for a baby boy to come (he was due Tuesday and still not signs of relief for momma).  So I had a bit of time to devote to work on a bow.  62" long.  Small hole in one limb.  Nice snake in the other.  I'll be tinkering till momma goes into labor.

Hope everything goes well with your wife and everything. I was wandering about her and the baby.
I'll be watching this one just like I did your last post.
Good luck,
Stan

Very cool!
I like it snakey side down unless you're it's going to be a lefty -that bend would make a great sight window. With the bend on the bottom it actually looks alive, like it's trying to get away from you!

Keep us posted!

Roy: I've been known to rip a lip or two.  What little money I made in High School was fishing tournaments with my pops (granted he upped all the money for the entry).

Still no baby so maybe today I'll flip the tips and stick it on the caul

Dang Goose, either you like to punish yourself or you just get bored working on a clean stave cause you sure pick some dandy ones to make a bow out of.   :D
Hey, I just thought of something.......drill that hole out a bit more and put some cross hairs in it. Worlds first Osage bow scope.....cool.

Congrats on the new "soon to be" tricycle motor.

Well it's now 5 days past my wife's due date so I might get this one finished before the little guy decides to come join us.  Heated it up and gave it a general string alignment which looks good.  Had a vertical crack just inside the snake but should be able to be taken out with no problems as it doesn't go all the way to the back of the bow.  Not quite level but you'll get an idea of the starting point.

Semo it must be a youth pastor mentality, bent and broken is what we are used to working with and there is no joy like watching it be formed into something perfect. I believe I have the sister piece of wood minus the hole.

Goose can't wait to see it finished, gonna be awesome.

Bent and broken sounds like the story of my life Jeff. Never had things come easy here either and I seem to make due with whatever the Lord sends my way. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

I'm sure Goose will pull this one out in fine fashion.

Cool looking piece of wood. I'm curious to see how it turns out. When the the little babe going to join the world?
