Hows the build going DHL?
I am no expert by any means and probably should not be giving out any advice. But I can say with only one Oak board under my belt and thought I was finished at one point, But my tiller was off on my upper limb it was to stiff. And to boot I went ahead and started shooting it at 29 30" full draw right off the bat. it started to lift some grain on one of the back edges. I finely got it rasped out and re-tillered the bow. dropped my draw to 28" and target weight 40ish give or take. So now I'm back and forth about what to back it with rawhide or paper thinking rawhide might be to heavy leaning towards paper. Recently I have been experimenting to on a few different bows ,tillering scrap pieces of wood, rawhide denim backings, stains, and dry heat flipping tips it has Been a good learning experience.
So to finely answer your question I would probably back it with the linen or something light just to be safe and for the experience of backing with linen dont forget to round the edges good that was one of my mistakes. Like Aznboi said hickory is pretty forgiving so with a low poundage bow you would probably be alright without backing.
Sorry for getting so windy. Good Luck on the build, Chuck
