Buck for your thoughts....finished
« on: June 13, 2011, 09:01:00 PM »
Workin on a new TD design as promised(finally)

Want to keep the sweet shootin characteristics of my 1-pc d/r bow,so I started with the same basic shape.

Here is what I have so far:

16" riser

29" limb +/- for a 64" bow

8.25 simple wedge(.375" to 0" in 8.25")

14* limb pads

And a couple pics....

The other bow is a 60" d/r

Any and all ideas , critique, or thoughts welcomed.....        :)
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Kenny looks like a winner to me.  Looks like a good deal of thought went into the design.  I really prefer the takedowns, don't really know why rarely ever take them apart and only have one bow with two sets of limbs.  Go figure.

Looks nice Kenny- after seeing what p-lams did for the one piece I would probably go with a longer wedge- 10.25" or so.

Excellent idea Dave, I thought a little about that. The wedges at 8.25 will be 2" farther out than the riser fades from center now. Do you think more would be better?

Thanks!

Based off that info-I would start with the 8.25. You may very well nail it on the first try-if not you have a good excuse to experiment   ;)

I don't know much about take down bows, never built one. But this one looks sweet and might change that. I'm sure you will come up with something very nice.

Mount the limbs on the back of the riser so you can keep the forward handle performance you already have.

Looks great!!! What you can do, is ship the first prototype to me for a "test drive"!!!  :bigsmyl:

for interest sake, why didn't you go for a 2pc take down with Locket Socket or Bow Bolt?

I wish I knew what the hell this all meant so I can have some sort of input:

{  8.25 simple wedge(.375" to 0" in 8.25") }

But I don't, so I'll just say that I still LOVE that R/D one piece.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if you add 2 limbs at 29" each, to a 16" riser, you get a 74" bow? Maybe that 10" limb pad jargon has something to do with it being 64"? Is it you subtract 5" for each limb pad?

Either way, I still think you need an apprentice, and that apprentice should be ME! muhahahaha jk. But I would take the internship if available    :)
