« on: June 21, 2011, 05:39:00 PM »
Anyone familiar with using olive wood for bows?
Landlord took out all his trees I salvaged some and am letting it cure.

Is that Russian Olive?  We have it here in MI too, I have a sapling stave cut and drying to give one a try but can't say one way or the other yet...

No clue on the type of olive I have to take a draw knife to the bark so it can dry. there may be one good stave in it and the trunk/ root system may make some good knife scales or turning blanks, but sadly I have to wait a bit for it to cure. WET WET WET! It is Colorado so it should dry pretty fast..... Year to six months I'm hoping
