It's always neat to work with new woods, but I have to admit, after I glued it up and started rough shaping, I was kind of wondering about the bacote and buginga together. Both were beautiful woods, but together it was almost too much fancy grain. Once I put a coat of finish on the bacote, it darkened up quite a bit which made for a better match with the buginga.
After Uncle Howie shot a few into that target at close range I challenged him to hit a stump in the yard about about 25 yards away. Be danged - he hit it the first shot. Knowin' him, he probably will arrow that nice buck on the first morning of the season this year.
