yeah im new to this site and to the world of bowyers or making my own bows. Ive made a fewboard bows that have turned out pretty nice, but wanted to try something a lil more challenging so I found a stave on the net that turned out to be a young tree with tight growth rings. I took the sapwood off and sealed the stave with poly and put it up in a dry place for 7 months, well I started on it and have been working at it every chance I can get. I had to heat it and take the twist out on one end and might still have to heat again after I get it worked down some. I inserted some pics of me chasing a ring on this stave I used a 1 inch paint scraper and it worked great. notice the knot in one of the pics can anyone give me some advice on it, Im hoping it works out when i start the tillering.
this last pic is one of my board bows I did a few months ago. 62 ktk, about 50#at 28
and this pic is my 9t I shot with the bow during the rut just thought id share with yall. since I know we all like a good rack.

Looks like you are doing a good job chasing that ring!

so far so good. It looks like the stave is wide enough that you will ve able to completely remove that knot.

I agree with DVS, I think when you work the stave down to a bow profile that knot will be gone. Try and lay out your profile so that it will miss the knot on purpose.

that is a really nice deer for that part of the country. Good looking bow, I think you will not have any trouble with that stave.
