Look up Tabebuia on wikipedia for a full description.  Pronounced "eepay" I think.

But in short, it's a very dense and rot resistant hardwood from central and south America.  Apparently wonderful for bows if backed with something.  I hope to find out myself someday...

Ipe is also a very high end decking material. Google decking material and you may find a source for it. Thats how I found mine.

I purchase mine from the local lumber supply.  They sell it for decking.
