Brace Height
« on: August 04, 2011, 06:38:00 PM »
What determines the brace height?  Is it just whatever it shoots the best, and handles the best at?  Or is there some kinda rule or reason for it to be a certain height?

I've always heard long bows should be around 6", and recurves should be about 8".  Is that right for "ball park" figures?  I've just been hearing some brace heights that seem way off from what those "ball park" figures are.  Any thoughts on the subject?

Joekeith, I go by what feels good for me.

The 'fistmele' is one measurement system. The thumb pointed up with the heel of the fist resting on the belly of the handle.

But I may change the brace to accomodate the bow and how it shoots. I'm beginning to get something of a collection of bows now and no two bows perform the same for me.
