Bow form help!
« on: February 20, 2008, 09:50:00 PM »
Hello i am building my first bow form and i need a little help. I am to the point of glueing on the formica strip. i got it from Binghams and expected something like a counter top formica with a paper type backing. what i got looks just like fiberglass? I'm wondering how i should glue this on. will titebond II be sufficient? Thanks, Dan.

If your getting ready to build bows, you should have some Smooth On in hand.  Use it.

You might want to tape it down for a bow or two first though, in case you want to make a change in the form.

I called Elmont Bingham and asked him this very question and he suggested using contact cement.

3M spray adhesive works really good.It helps if you can put the hose and pressure to it to get a good bond.

I just use contact cement- works well and have not had any problems with it.

What kind of bow are you making, Dan?  Something we can play with at the bow building weekend? Chad

hi chad, hopefully we can play with it. the form is a simple straight form for a hill style bow, i'm trying the rubber band method of clamping. i'll let you all know how it turns out.
