BBB Finish?
« on: August 19, 2011, 11:45:00 AM »
I am finishing off a BBB blank I picked up from Mike Yancy at MOJAM. (James Parker bow).  What is the best way to finish bamboo?  The bow has been stained on the back, so do i just sand prep it then finish?  What will be the most durable for a bamboo back and belly bow?  I know i have a lot of questions, however, i know you guys have the answers.  I appreciate the feedback and am thankful for the knowledge i have gained here.

Thanks Much

Tung Oil is a good choice. Tru Oil isnt so bad either.

Whatever finish you use, load up plenty of finish over the stain if you plan on doing any fine sanding or steel wool buffing between coats. It's very easy to burn through a finish and ruin a stain job. In this situation, I spray with spar polyurethane and try to make do with one application........Art
