Longbow layout

I'm wanting to build a R/D Longbow. if you want a longbow can you just split the bow in thirds have the deepest part of the decurve, say 2", one third down both limbs and the tips even with the back of the bow? It seems thats what most of them look like.

Short answer - Yes

The problem is that little differences in shape change what stack thickness gets you to a certain weight, how the bow shoots, if the string stays off the limb at brace, etc, etc.

I think a great option would be getting a template and recipe from KennyM.  Its not expensive and chances are your first bow will be a keeper instead of having to build 2-3 to get the weight and shape tweeked.  It took me 3 forms and 4 bows to get my first design "right".

listen to glunt, i'm gettin ready to start my thrid bow off my form (it looks pretty similar to kennys but my stack are no where close to his). i'm just hoping it will be close to what i want.

also kenny is a great guy to deal with and everyone that use his design seem to love them.
