Compound to Recurve conversion

I've done similar conversions. You can grind the buttons of the rockers and use either double sided carpet tape or epoxy to mount them on the limbs. Saves trying to get them centered in the limb. Also you can grind the nub of the end of the riser and not use the rockers at all. Just depends on the poundage the you get with the rockers

She turned out nice. How long did it turn out to be (ie string length + 3 inches) Nice thing about these is you can loosen one bolt to try different tiller set ups and see how it shoots. Also you can lower the draw weight some too though you may need to add some padding under the limb to keep things quiet. A former Olympian Who shot in China called these frankenbows. Those that used Quinn limbs have been called quarfs. BTW warf was the name of dog of the guy you originally built the ilf adapted compound risers.

Man you sure got my wheels turning! I'll be keeping my eye out for old cheap compound bows now, matter of fact I've even looked at a few that were dirt cheap and just couldn't figure out what I would need one for. LOL

Hey, Vanillabear, I have that same model of riser at home waiting for a similar treatment. I bought it new when I was 13, sprayed it cammo, shot it like crazy, sold it, bought it back and finally the limbs started to delaminate where the wheels attach, so I took all the compound gear off of it and saved the riser.

I was intending to put red oak board limbs on it, but at only $75 for a new set of limbs, I might change my mind...

I have a old bear alskan II compound, it was the first bow I ever owned, bought it back in the 80's, real heavy bow, Im wondering if I could do something like this with that bow or should I leave it alone, classic bear bow probally one of the first compounds made by bear.

Vanillabear, nice looking conversion.  I know what you mean about using it as a bow fishing rig.  I have a terrible time keeping the reel tight on my recurve.  I have an old Browning compound that I've been thinking of doing something with,  I'll have to get it down off the rack and see if it can be used.  Thanks for sharing, sound like you've inspired a few others also......Dan

I have built a few of these myself. You can't beat the Sage limbs for the price especially when you find the riser for nothing also. Good job on the project!
