building arrows for stump shootin
« on: October 04, 2011, 01:41:00 AM »
Okay so I found a big box of dowels in the garage but really have no idea what they are made of. Im going to assume pine and I don't know if that's a good arrow choice but will it hold up for stump shooters?

Never built arrows before either so im wondering what length to cut them to. I have a 28 inch draw but probably want to leave them long?

Any elaboration needed for my questions feel free to ask.

If you dont have a way to test the spine I would leave them alone as far as shafts are concerned. You really should know the spine.

One thing I will say. If they feel stiffer than normal, they would probaly make a fine flu-flu. Flex some known shafts to feel the difference. If you decide to try them be sure to flex and bend each one in every direction possible to check for cracks or internal issues you cant see or feel.

Not hard to build a simple spine tester....  Might be worth it in this case.
