ROBB and Aluminum arrow shaft question

Those that have built a red oak board bow, I'm wondering what shaft size you would reccomend. I shoot 50#@28" and my draw length is 28". I'm looking for an arrow around 29"-29.5" in length. Thanks for the thoughts.

Its going to depend greatly on how wide your handle is and how close to center your shelf or arrow rest is. There are a ton of variables that you have to take into consideraion. I bet if you started with something in a .500 spine shaft and a variety of tip weights (another variable) you could get a decent set of arrows tuned up in short order.

More important than diameter is spine. Look for properly spined arrows, don't worry about the diameter. Most wood arrows come in 11/32" or 23/64".

OK, I feel like a doofus.
Since you specifically asked about aluminum arrows, please disregard my post.

I was actually referring to spine when I mentioned .500. I cannot remember for sure but I think that would be a 2016. Would probably get you in the ballpark.
