A new Hill
« on: October 30, 2011, 12:12:00 PM »
You guys might have thought I gave it up...but I am still at it...just a little slower.  Here is a new Hill I just finished up:

66" 75# @ 28" (miscalculated the lam stack a little I suppose)

12" Bocote riser, 4 lams of bamboo and myrtle veneers I got as a gift from another Trad Ganger. Deer skin handle.

Brown glass on the back with overlays of clear glass, red glass and cow horn.  I trapped the back on this one instead of the belly and I like it quite a bit.  Several coats of tru-oil to seal and then Thunderbird flat as a final finish.  Here are some pics

Bows like that are my inspiration for my next project.  Granted it will have maple lams for the limbs since thats what I have but I am hopeful that the lines will be similarly graceful.  THANKS FOR SHARING.

Thank Guys, the lam stack was .610 with a total taper per inch of .005    That is with the glass, which is .040 ULS on the back, .050 UL on the belly.
