Today I took my four-year-old son "hunting", which consisted of me carrying a couple of blunts but mostly pointing out tracks and droppings, telling him what kind of bird made that noise, and explaining why we don't eat raw soybeans for lunch. Also spent a lot of time trying to get him to sneak. When it was time to come home he didn't want to leave, so I assume he enjoyed it. I know I did.

Got a jump on cleaning my shop up. It has hit a point of critical mass where the mess hass gone from comfortable to can't find a thing or get anything done. Found two bows I had started and forgot about because I couldn't see them in the mess. Will hopefully get back into it, finally.

I glued up a BBH after getting some advice from a gent down in PA. I bought some osage for a couple of BBOs but I thought it might be best to first do one in hickory. Osage is pricy here and I don't want to waste any.

I figured I'll take some pics after I get it out of the clamps tomorrow. Right now the glue is still wet.

I don't use a sock drawer, I just leave them in a heap.  :bigsmyl:  Maybe I'll dig through it and see what's underneath.
The bow is in the basement where it's about 60 or 65 degrees and I used Urac. It'll be ready to unclamp by lunchtime tomorrow.
Don't be waiting to hear from me right away though. I have to make a walnut plaque for a European mount moose rack for a taxidermist friend of mine. The money I make for that will cover the cost of the osage I bought the other day.  :)
Pictures by tomorrow evening.

Maybe it'll be some sort of good omen. Going hunting Monday...I hope I don't have to do it before every hunt as like a pre-game ritual though.

trimmed a cedar and built up a brush blind across the fence yesterday.
Busy with kid stuff today ,Tae Kwan Do testing during the day, and am now listening to my daughter practice her flute.
Took some practice shots with the Wildhorse Creek bow this evening tho and will be taking it out Monday morning.

Dave, that bow turned out great!! Nice job.

Thanks Paul, but it's gonna look a lot different when it's done.

Glued up a hickory backed jatoba tonight with tigerwood and hickory in the handle. The backing strips are half sapwood and half heartwood. Should look cool when its done if it makes it.  Went with a simple glue up. Nothing fancy just helped gravity with the reflex.

If you use 5 gallon drums and Roy, I mean a dumbell to induce reflex.... You may be a redneck!

I'm definitely a redneck. Just like to show that bowmaking isn't a science and just about anything will work.  I have used plastic wrap, innertubes, weights, rubberbands, clamps, and an air hose.

I took the clamps off this morning.  It has about an inch and a half of reflex.
