How did ya get out, cut the string? Or call 911:) Hello 911, yes this is Dave and I have my leg stuck in my bow. 911, excuse me. This is Dave and I have my leg stuck in my bow. Click they hang up.           On another note, the step through method is a no no for wood bows. Could twist the limbs or trap ya:) Use a bow stringer son...

Gonna take Momma out for breakfast, go grocery shopping, and come home and play in the bow shop. Gonna get the BBO on the tree today...

Some days my poor tired old brain just doesn't function right. Oh well, if I don't mess this one up, it should be a heck of a shooter. That is once I get it off me...
Just kidding.

I put the handle and strike plate and rest on my hackberry selfbow today.  It turned out nice. I used leather elk hide this timeand finished it with mink oil. I'll be twisting up soe. Strings tonight and finishing both hackberry bows with some pics this coming week hopefully. Now I've gotta help chris cut up his kids first deer he shot this morning.

I glued up a little youth bow for a friends son yesterday. Today, I got up and went huntin, then head to town to run errands, than I got to come home and play some more. I got overlays epoxied on, the limbs roughed, and just put a string to her a couple of minutes ago.

Had a wonderful day.

String tracking right down the middle, then it exploded on the tree. This Osage was 6 years old and flawless. Sometimes I just don't understand.

So on to plan two. Made some primitive cane arrows for Razorbacks Museum Show.

I guess they are alright  :)  Roy
Can't wait to see them in person, thanks.

the show Roy is talking about is a wildlife art exhibit at View, the Art Center in Old Forge Ny. It is showcasing art work that has something to do with wildlife, paintings, photo's and sculptures. I got the curator to include some artistic traditional hunting implements and then some of our brothers here are submitting works. Roy, snakewood3, Dan landis and John Scifres are showing pieces.
If you are in the central NY area please feel free to stop by and see the show. It opens friday the 7th of December and runs for about 4 months.

That sucks Roy! Probably ole kenny sending you pre broke wood as  a joke.    :biglaugh:   or maybe while you were making the selfbow you forgot how to build them glued up ones. Lol
The arrows look nice. I'll bet whoever you stole em from is pretty upset though.

those arrows look great.
when i wrap the front of the fletches i like to sand that first half inch of the quill down to a very fine flat pointed taper- so that when i do the wrap- i dont get the step.
you gonna build some more self bows now- that the lams keep a-bustin'.

That's too bad about the bow Roy. It was looking real good. Nice arrows though, did you knap those points?

The arrows are just for a show. If I were going to shoot them, I would sand the front quill to a taper. I was making them like they did a hundred years ago:) But how would I know how they built them back then:) No Dave, a friend made them.

It would be like shooting fish in a barrel to pick on someone as old as you. My old man would call that leading with your chin.
