Taught a bowmaking class yesterday, used the smooth scraper from Three Rivers for 1st time, it is a great scraping tool and only $19.00.

thanks and mills that is northern water snake. The pics make it out to be more brown but there is a bit of red to them. Nice hot boxes. Now let us see the bows you cook up in them.

Goober, I like your ceramic tile heat shields. Direct heat too close to a bow can cause problems and I have used alum foil over the bow to prevent uneven heating but I think I'll try the ceramic tiles. d;^)

Well this was a few days ago, but here is me and 3 of my kiddos enjoying the longbow we were loaned. Hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy shooting that bow.

Here is me, I love this bow, and it's hard to see, but it's my best group yet!

Here is my middle son having a go with the bow!

Here is his twin sister, watch out boys, she will stick it to ya.

Last but definatly not least, here is my youngest, hes 9, and a good shot too.

The kids love shooting this bow so much, dad has to stand in line to get a turn anymore, but that's ok with me.

Cool Kevin, however it does look like the arrow is being nocked way too high on the bow string. The string nock should be somewhere around 1/4 to 3/8th above level with the arrow rest.

Thems some fancy hot boxes guys. I'm with Kenny, mine looks ghetto compared to yours. I've just got four 200 watt bulbs mounted in the lid with an old wood stove bi-metal thermostat to keep temp.  Works for what I need it for, anyway.

This was bugging me all night.

In refrence to hot boxs, is there any problems that can arise out of having all your heat on one side, vs. staggered on both sides?

Thanks

In an area as small as a hotbox, no prob on heat at one side unless it gets too hot on the bow.  Check out the tile in one of the great boxes above...

Thanks Kenny. That was an idea I stole from John G. I'm a little smarter than a plumber.... but not that smart!     ;)

I flew to Providence RI for a 3 day business trip.  Just had a great seafood dinner but am missing my shop...oh yeah and my family  :)

I have a couple more bows in the works and they sure do make the time pass just thinking about them.  I'd rather be working on them though.
Take a kid hunting!

last night I glued up a 66" D/R longbow on my KennyM form..Today after work I ground the extra smooth on off and shaped the limbs, nailed the tiller (1/8" positive)with no problem but missed weight by 4 lbs (light)..thats OK I can use a 40# one and I can always cut it down to 64" if needed.

Started finishing the bow that i almost ruined the other night. I bounced the riser off the floor and broke both fades, I luckly had another riser cut and ready to go.

Hey Cory - That bow looks kind of familiar   ;)

I got a lot of work done on my swap bow this 3 day weekend.  Lots of sanding left to do.
